Every bag in this collection is made from full-grain leather and hand-stitched in our workshop, the way leather goods have been built to last for generations.

For over 40 years, we've made these bags by hand in our small Vermont workshop. We've watched the same customers come back for a second, a third, sometimes for their grown children. They never had to tell us why.

But the years have caught up with us. After four decades behind this workbench, it's time to hang up our aprons and finally be the grandparents our grandchildren deserve.

We have three of them now, and they're growing up faster than the leather can age.

So this is our final collection. Each bag is cut, stitched, and finished by hand, one at a time. There are only so many we can make before we close the doors for good, and we want them to find the shoulders that need them most.

About Us

Walter learned leather from his father. We met in 1980 and opened our small Vermont workshop that spring. We've made bags by hand ever since.

We have three grandchildren now — and they're not waiting any longer.

This is our last collection. After this, the hooks come down and we go home for good.

Full-grain leather. Solid brass. Waxed thread. Hand-cut, hand-stitched, one at a time.

These aren't factory bags. They never will be.

Why are you offering up to 70% off?

After 40+ years, Walter and I are stepping back to spend more time with our grandchildren. These are the final bags from our workshop — once they're gone, there will be no new ones.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes. We offer free shipping with USPS on every order, so your bag arrives safely and without any extra costs.

Do your bags come with a guarantee?

Yes. Every bag is backed by our Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee, because quality should last a lifetime.

Frequently asked questions

Almost certainly because what you bought before wasn't full-grain leather.

The vast majority of "leather" bags sold online are bonded leather, split leather, or faux leather coated to look real — they peel, crack, and split within a season because the material was never built to last.

Every bag we make is full-grain vegetable-tanned leather all the way through. No bonded backing, no plastic coating, no shortcuts. Full-grain is the strongest part of the hide — it's the layer that softens with age instead of breaking down, and it's the only kind of leather that develops a real patina.

The other factor is construction. Walter hand-stitches every seam with waxed thread — the kind of stitching that holds a bag together for thirty years instead of two. Machine-stitched bags fail at the seams long before the leather ever gives out. Ours don't.

We've been making bags for over 40 years. Here's what we know:

Full-grain leather is one of the few materials that genuinely improves with use. The natural oils from your hands, the way you carry it, the places it goes with you — all of that becomes part of the bag. The corners soften. The color deepens. Small marks become character.

We've had customers send us photos of bags they bought from us in the early 1990s — bags that have been carried every day for thirty years and look better now than the day they left our workshop. A factory bag breaks down. A real leather bag breaks in.

You don't have to take our word for it. Carry it for a year and look at it again.

Real full-grain leather has a few things you can check on day one:

  1. The smell. Real leather smells like leather — earthy, slightly sweet, unmistakable. Bonded and faux leather smell like plastic or chemicals.
  2. The grain. Look closely at the surface. Real leather has small natural variations, pores, and tiny imperfections — that's the hide. Fake leather is uniform and printed.
  3. The edge. On the cut edges of the bag, real leather shows the layered fiber structure. Fake leather shows a smooth painted edge or fabric backing.
  4. The weight. Full-grain leather has heft. Faux leather feels light and floppy by comparison.

Every bag we make is full-grain, vegetable-tanned, never bonded, never coated. Run these checks the day yours arrives. If it ever fails, we'll refund you immediately.

Leather is a material, yes.

What you're paying for is 40+ years of handcraft, full-grain hide, and the fact that this is the last collection we will ever make.

We turned down two larger retailers over the years who wanted us to switch to faster, cheaper materials. We refused to put our name on something we didn't make with our own hands.

Every bag in this store was cut, stitched, and finished by us. When these are gone, there won't be more.

You can buy a bonded-leather bag for fifty dollars anywhere. This is something else.

If a bag isn't right for you for any reason — it doesn't fit what you needed, the color isn't what you expected, or you simply changed your mind — send it back and we'll refund you completely.

We've spent 40 years building trust with people we've never met. We're not going to change that in our last collection.
